Ohio Valley Development Council
2008 OVDC Officers

The Council (OVDC) is a valuable affiliate Council of the Home Builders Association. It was created to cope with the unique problems experienced by developers, contractors and engineers who specialize in land development.

The OVDC is organized into several committees that deal with the many issues that developers face:
  • EDUCATION COMMITTEE: Seeks opportunities to interact with planners and policy makers in a variety of ways, including making presentations before professional associations. Educates policy makers on emerging trends in the land development industry.

  • ENGINEERING STANDARDS COMMITTEE: Responsible for monitoring, reviewing and reporting on possible changes and modifications primarily to subdivision regulations.

  • MEMBERSHIP AND PROGRAM COMMITTEE: Recruits new members and develops and implements programs for member retention. Plans general membership meetings and finds individuals to speak at those meetings on industry-related issues. The committee is also responsible for developing the OVDC newsletter.

  • OEPA COMMITTEE: Works with OEPA officials on the many environmental policies that affect the land development industry.

  • PLANNING AND ZONING COMMITTEES: Reviews changes in planning and zoning regulations throughout the Greater Cincinnati region.

  • PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMITTEE: Works with local utilities on issues affecting the land development industry.

  • WATER AND SEWER COMMITTEES: Monitor issues affecting the area's water and sewer infrastructure and reviews and provides comments to new or revised water and sewer regulations.
Since its establishment in 1976, the OVDC's membership has grown to nearly 190 members. Dues paid by the individual members of this Council are $60.00 per year with a one-time $50.00 initiation fee. Membership in OVDC is individual, not by company. Because the Ohio Valley Development Council is an affiliate council of the Home Builders Association, your company or organization must be an HBA member (see membership information of the Home Builders Association).

General membership meetings of the OVDC are held quarterly, with a special guest speaker for every meeting. OVDC members also benefit from the work of the membership to create an environment where land can be developed in the safest and most cost effective way. All members receive the newsletter updating them on those activities.
